Description
Preening is serious business. For a bird in the wild, keeping feathers in perfect condition is a matter of life and death. For a companion bird, the instinct for preening to perfection is equally strong. Victoria goes about the task with gusto.
This strikingly beautiful Eclectus is red with a royal violet blue bib and deep maroon wings with scattered strands of gold in her feathers that give her a transclucent appearance. No wonder they were considered gifts from the Gods in early Egypt!
Victoria is my artist daughter's beloved companion and they share a happy home in San Francisco.

The bird almost seems to be thinking, "Can I clean in peace please?" Great photo.
