Resting on the metal gridwork, this Eurasian Purple Emperor created a wonderful graphic black and white image, adding just the right interest and drama with his stunning iris purple color.
He (she?) is just one of the more than 2,000 beautiful residents in the Butterfly Conservatory of the Niagara Falls Botanical Gardens, the largest enclosed butterfly conservatory in North America. Just a short 4 hour drive from my home - and worth every minute.
I love this Conservatory. It's a magical place!

I create portraits of my subjects. Flowers, birds, animals, people, objects, whatever catches my eye, my focus is purely on the subject, caught in space and time as clearly as possible, to be studied, admired, celebrated, remembered.
