Artist's Description
Embroidery is chic, current and it's everywhere. How about as a wall hanging to make a dramatic statement?
Can't hang an original embroidery on your wall? The photographic version shows all the lush details, fine bead and needlework, brilliant rich colors of the original hand embroidery - and at an affordable price!
This a portion of the front of an apron which is part of a private collection of museum quality Hungarian embroidery. The extremely rich colors and dense embroidery and extensive beadwork are typical of the embroidery of this region in Northern Hungary which dates back to the late 1800's.
Hand embroidered and beaded items of this quality are no longer made in Hungary and reproductions of these late 19th and early 20th century works would be very pricey. But a photograph is a perfect way to bring this rare item into your home to glam up your space. Or maybe to remember or reconnect with your Hungarian heritage?

About Andrea Lazar
I create portraits of my subjects. Flowers, birds, animals, people, objects, whatever catches my eye, my focus is purely on the subject, caught in space and time as clearly as possible, to be studied, admired, celebrated, remembered. A chance encounter with a ruby-throated hummingbird taught me the joys of capturing a remarkable moment with a camera, that I can stop time and freeze the experience to relive and enjoy time and again. From that moment on, he has been my muse as I explore, uncover and savor the wonders of nature and beauty that surrounds me.

The fine details and artistry is commendable -- to think that this is part of an apron! This kind of beaded embroidery is still done and practised very widely and extensively in many part of India, especially Gujarat.
Andrea Lazar replied:
Yes, I have seen some exquisite Indian beaded embroidery recently - wonderful that it is still done there. Sadly, not so much in Hungary any more.
