Artist's Description
At first it may be gruesome, but looking closer and longer, there is much fascinating beauty and artistry in the jewel-like remains of this fish carcass on the shores of Lake Erie.
That, with its death, it continues in importance to give sustenance to the myriad of birds, bugs, and microscopic life makes the process even more remarkable.
About Andrea Lazar
I create portraits of my subjects. Flowers, birds, animals, people, objects, whatever catches my eye, my focus is purely on the subject, caught in space and time as clearly as possible, to be studied, admired, celebrated, remembered. A chance encounter with a ruby-throated hummingbird taught me the joys of capturing a remarkable moment with a camera, that I can stop time and freeze the experience to relive and enjoy time and again. From that moment on, he has been my muse as I explore, uncover and savor the wonders of nature and beauty that surrounds me.

Wow.. Truly a unique subject. Often times photographs only dwell on the beautiful and not the darker side of nature. You have managed to show this darker side with this shot. Well done.
